A gem in the Mediterranean: Comino

A gem in the Mediterranean

Comino is an island in the Mediterranean sea; set between its neighbouring islands of Gozo and Malta part of the Maltese archipelago. More commonly referred to by its Maltese name ‘Kemmuna’ from the locals; it is named after the cumin seed (Kemmun) which used to grow in abundance here.

Having a population of 4 residents; Comino is very popular as a destination and this comes especially from the island’s very quiet and peaceful environment. Thus, the latter makes Comino a very popular recreational destination among both locals and residents. The island’s 3.5 square kilometres area is mostly uninhabited due to the island being a natural reserve as well as a bird sanctuary.
